Play Therapy Week 2020

February 2nd through 8th is Play Therapy Week. The Association for Play Therapy (APT) is a national organization (to which I belong) that supports and promotes Play Therapy as a research-based modality for working with kiddos. The Florida Association for Play Therapy (FAPT) has several chapters across the state, where those of us who love to Play get together to expand our knowledge, strengthen our skills and help to grow the Play Therapy community.

The video above, put out by APT, gives a good overview of Play Therapy and why it works.

This week, to celebrate, I am connecting with phenomenal play therapists both locally and nationally, to affirm the work I am doing and sharpen my skills.

I truly believe that the best way to connect with our Youngest Humans is to speak a language they intuitively know- play. Families who have seen me do this work with their children can attest to how easy and non-threatening, yet so ridiculously effective it is to have kids play through their Big Feelings. Kids, when allowed the freedom to work through their issues at their own pace, in their own manner, naturally and easily rise into more confidence and happiness.

Play Therapy Works!
