Play Therapy or Talk Therapy

Humans play to work through their problems. Children use toys to play through the stories of their life. I speak this language of children and use it to help them be happy. Some youth prefer to talk through their problems. As we talk, I am able to pinpoint crooked thoughts that lead them to feelings of unhappiness. Together, we change those thoughts and they find their way back to joy.

Adult Therapy and Parenting

Adults sometimes find themselves lost in a thick fog of Shoulds and Musts that leave them feeling stuck and small and wrong. These feelings skew the relationships with their loved ones and drain them of their innate power and purpose. I help ground people in their own authenticity, so they can embrace and enjoy the life they richly deserve.

Supervision

I am a Qualified Supervisor for Registered Clinical Social Work Interns. I have 20+ years of experience working with children and their families, doing outpatient and inpatient work. I have a strong ethical backbone and impeccable treatment practices. I'll help you explore the issues that will bring you to solid professional success.

My Approach

"When you need me, but do not want me, I must stay.

When you want me, but no longer need me, then I have to go."

- Nanny McPhee (movie, 2005)

I respect the inherent integrity of all individuals and families, in all their shapes and colors. This is why I don't want to be a permanent part of your life. I view myself as an expert problem-solver who visits your world just long enough to find the solutions to the problems you identify. I am rewarded with a quiet sense of satisfaction when you begin to rise and a peace settles into your life. This satisfaction lets me know it is time for me to move on and begin work with a new person or family.

My approach is straightforward and I pull no punches. I'm a taskmaster with the singular focus of obliterating the obstacles that stand between Where You Are and Where You Want To Be. I do this with big, fat doses of humor - laughter is a balm I often use. I'm also a big fan of self-acceptance and humility.

I currently provide services via a secure video link. I have most of my tools with me, but I count on kids to show me their toys and playroom. There is no need to put your health at risk or pack up the other kids, in order to get relief. Seeing your family in your home helps you and your child to feel comfortable and allows me to understand your family much more quickly. I firmly believe in confidentiality; my work is discreet. I also work efficiently, to limit your out-of-pocket cost.
